The Blue Rose Foundation (BRF) is an American non-profit organization founded by media, tech executive, Joe Poletto. Based in Glen Ellen, California, it launched in 2014 and is primarily focused on providing scholarships to children from economically disadvantaged families within the United States. As of 2019, Blue Rose Foundation scholarships have been distributed to schools in California, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
The Blue Rose Foundation was formed after a benefit concert was held at the Sebastiani Theatre in Sonoma, California. The inaugural benefit concert honoured Joe Poletto's longtime friend, Joe Capone, who passed away from cancer. This concert produced a $25,000 scholarship fund in Capone's name benefiting Sonoma's Old Adobe School. The fund produced five half-day, year-round preschool scholarships. Artists that have performed at concerts include: John Oates, Steve Earle, Joan Osborne, Anders Osborne, Holly Williams, Bekka Bramlett, Jackie Greene, The Mother Hips, Steve Forbert, Mark Karan, Josh Joplin, Kelly Fitzgerald, Drew Harrison, Jason Crosby, Tim Gorman, Lorenzo Wolff, Mark Miller and Dead On Live, Nicki Bluhm, Nicole Atkins, The Coffis Brothers, Bailey Ingle, Cris Jacobs, Laura Reed, Elliott Peck, David Luning, Megan Palmer, and The McCrary Sisters.
As of 2019, the foundation has raised over $500,000 to help fund scholarships at six preschools across the U.S. Benefit concerts have been held at theaters including The Mystic Theater in Petaluma, California, The Fillmore in San Francisco, California, and The Count Basie Theatre in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
The Blue Rose Foundation's mission is to provide equal access to educational resources that start children on an early pathway to success, and thereby further strengthen families and communities. By awarding preschool scholarships to children from economically disadvantaged families, The Blue Rose Foundation helps foster a life-long love of learning and provides children access to the tools to reach their full potential.
The foundation has one grant cycle per school, per year. and typically includes grants in the amount of $10,000. Over the years, the foundation has broadened its impact and continues efforts to fund grants to additional preschools.
